Toronto-based designer Ben Johnston crafted this clever identity system for South African photographer Dylan Culhane. This is probably one of the most attractive marketing packaging sets I have seen in a while. The minimalist approach was executed perfectly with the sharpness of the yellow against the black. The only thing I may have changed for myself would have been to include some sort of photos into the packaging since he is a photographer, of course. A lot of people, also artists, don't think of the attractiveness of their packaging as a major concern. That is where they went wrong. Not only does it help promote your business to new clients but it also helps brand yourself with your existing clients. If someone handed you an expensive business card but followed it up with a plastic bag as their briefcase, you would not be impressed. You may not have a briefcase but you do have an envelope, CD, box, thank you card, and any other item that you will hand to your client. All of those things make a positive impact on not only their experience but yours as the business owner.
I personally use www.moo.com for my paper products including my business cards. They are a little more expensive but I keep these items to hand out myself. I do order business cards from a cheaper website for mass marketing.
